File names are of the form DIR/NAME.ibm.sgy where the DIRectory name is something like 'line1'.
The NAME part of each file is built based on keys as follows:
The LineTYPE is 'l' or 'ln' for a land line, 'p' stands for profile.
The LINE number runs from 1 to 7, but note that line 5E, 5W and 5N will have a lower case character following the NAME.
The RECeiver TYpe is 's' or 'st' for (land) stations, 'o' for ocean bottom seismographs.
COMPonent nomenclature varies. 'a', 'b' and 'c' are channels, 'h1', 'h2' and 'z' directions (north is geographic north).
Filenames that include z, h1 and h2 were recorded on Dalhousie seismographs, the letters refer to:
z = z-component,
h1 = north-component,
h2 = east-component
Filenames with a, b and c were recorded on Reftek stations and the letters refer to:
a = z-component,
b = north-component,
c = east-component.
Ocean bottom seismographs (OBS) use the following channels:
c2 = vertical component,
c3 = hydrophone.
